Spring Cleaning Safety

Now that the weather is getting nicer, spring cleaning is popping up on our to do lists. Here are some handy tips for seniors that are getting there homes in tip top shape!
-Check the medicine cabinet. Make sure medications are properly labeled, and that nothing has expired. If any have, make sure to properly dispose of them.
-Clean up any clutter to make your space safer! Having things lying around can pose a potential tripping hazard, so make sure to have lots of space to move around, and any loose rugs should be taped down.
-Never try to move heavy objects or furniture on your own. Also, don't try and change the light bulb while standing on a ladder by yourself. Instead, get a family member (or us!) to change light bulbs, or clean hard to reach areas, as well as move furniture to different places.
-Now is a great time to make sure that all your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are working properly. Also, it's a good idea to periodically check that the fire extinguishers in your home are also functioning well.
